You Bet Your Life, Vol. 2 [DVD]
The masterful host of the radio quiz program You Bet Your Life brought it to television and made it an immediate fan favorite. Groucho's special brand of quick-witted bantering carried over beautifully in the video version of the already popular show. The premise for the show allows three couples to compete for cash prizes by answering questions presented to them. Clearly the secret to the show's success was not just the 'secret word' that contestants needed to know to earn extra bonus money or the jackpot question for the time-appropriate big bucks. The wise-cracking Groucho Marx really delivers the goods on these four laugh-heavy episodes just dripping with unrehearsed exchanges between the master himself and sidekick announcer George Fenneman.
'Program 56' (1950s): World famous traveler and explorer Mrs. Zeta Wells joins Groucho along with her incredible talking parrot. Zeta reveals the details of her visit to the Island and how it inspired the story of the Amazon Warriors. Arthur Marelli had no formal education but managed to survive the fighting in the Mexican Revolution; he did as a soldier in both the Army and Navy. (25 Min • B&W)
'Program 58' (1950s): Straight from Vic Tanny's workout gym onto the show, Cathy Smith dazzles Groucho with her beauty to the point that he keeps losing his train of thought and then he is crushed to learn that her boyfriend is none other than Mr. America. And speaking of 'royalty,' Nancy Shepard, the rodeo stunt rider contestant, is the current Miss Texas! Yahoo! (25 Min • B&W)
'Program 79' (1950s): The light shines brightly on LA Dodger great Don Drysdale and his new wife Ginger. Drysdale, then only 23 years old, is in direct contrast to 93-year-old contestant Louis Rich, who shares his secret for long life - a glass of wine every day at dinner and eating peanuts for lunch. 'Program 89' (1950s): An American airlines stewardess graces the show and describes the transformation from propeller planes to jets while 'Crash' Corrigan discusses his longtime cowboy acting career in some 60 plus films. The clincher though is Joanna Lee, a darling unmarried actress who oddly enough teams up with Dick Mastethan, a religious editor for the L.A. Times. (25 Min • B&W)

Many, if not most, will work on XP or higher with a few quick adjustments. We provide instructions with all items purchased on how to do this adjustment using the Program Compatibility Wizard. If we find out that an item will definately not work on a specific version, we will state it. For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program if the Program Compatibility Wizard does not work.
64-Bit Windows OS Systems:
For 64-bit Operating Systems, older games most likely will NOT work due to 64-bit systems not being able to run 16-bit programming code (most games prior to 2000). For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program.
Macintosh Systems:
For Macintosh programs, most older games will need to be run in Classic Environment if you have a MAC OS X 10.0 - 10.4 version. Please research Google on how to do this, or send us a message for information prior to purchasing. If your MAC OS system doesn't support Classic Environment (ie. MAC OS X 10.5 or Higher OR Intel Macs), you will have to try running it using the free program called SheepShaver, but compatibility is not ensured.
