The notorious ringleader of an international band of thieves, Carmen Sandiego is back on the prowl. Prison doesn't seem to hold Carmen or her group for very long and this time they've broken into a super-secret laboratory and gained control of the latest model Time Machine. That's right, in this mission, you'll track Carmen Sandiego through time itself.
Carmen and her thieves are using the time machine to loot the most famous treasures of the past 1500 years: Napoleon's hat, Don Quixote's lance, and even Paul Revere's horse! You are being issued the latest in portable time travel devices -- the Chronoskimmer 325i. Using this machine, you'll be able to travel through 1500 years and 48 locations, electronically scan the crime scene, and translate conversations with witnesses.
Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? is a single-player game in which you gather information and travel to different places to discover the whereabouts of a criminal. You'll have a limited amount of time in which to solve a case and if you don't finish within this time, the game is over.
In the position of Time Cadet, you'll travel through time, track the criminals' movements, figure out where he or she is going next, obtain a warrant for his or her arrest, and send a "Capture Robot" to arrest the thief. By interviewing eyewitnesses and finding objects, you'll gain the clues necessary to figure out where each criminal is traveling to next. In order to obtain a warrant, you'll need to have enough details about the criminal for a Positive ID. Simply knowing the hair color of the criminal won't do the trick.
Each time you catch a criminal and complete a case, you'll get closer to receiving promotions. In the beginning you start as a Time Cadet, but as you move up the ranks you'll become a Time Patroller, Time Investigator, Time Inspector, Time Detective, Ace Time Detective, and Super Time Sleuth. Travel all the way back to the year 400 A.D. when the Roman empire crumbled and then forward to 1750 A.D. where Carmen is interested in stealing the crown jewels.

Games that came out PRIOR to XP or higher will not specifically state they will work on that release, but only because they came out before those versions were made. Many, if not most, will work on XP or higher with a few quick adjustments. We provide instructions with all items purchased on how to do this adjustment using the Program Compatibility Wizard. If we find out that an item will definately not work on a specific version, we will state it. For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program if the Program Compatibility Wizard does not work.
64-Bit Windows OS Systems:
For 64-bit Operating Systems, older games most likely will NOT work due to 64-bit systems not being able to run 16-bit programming code (most games prior to 2000). For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program.
Macintosh Systems:
For Macintosh programs, most older games will need to be run in Classic Environment if you have a MAC OS X 10.0 - 10.4 version. Please research Google on how to do this, or send us a message for information prior to purchasing. If your MAC OS system doesn't support Classic Environment (ie. MAC OS X 10.5 or Higher OR Intel Macs), you will have to try running it using the free program called SheepShaver, but compatibility is not ensured. Please research prior to purchasing or ask questions.
