The Rolling Stones - Rock and Roll Circus
Filmmaker Michael Lindsay-Hogg's concert film features the Rolling Stones, the Who, Jethro Tull, John Lennon and Eric Clapton.
After being inaccessible for almost thirty years, the iconic Rock and Roll Circus by the Rolling Stones saw its first release on VHS in 1996. Now, it has been given a comprehensive DVD release that captures the 1968 event. It is said that the Stones were not pleased with their performance, which accounts for the lengthy delay in its release. While it may not showcase their best work, the band performed tracks like "Jumping Jack Flash" along with several songs from their newer album Beggars Banquet. Although Keith Richards was fully engaged, Mick Jagger's theatrical antics, particularly during "Sympathy for the Devil," feel excessive. Additionally, guitarist Brian Jones appears disheveled and on a downward path leading to his tragic passing the following year.
A sense of oddity also surrounds some of the other performers: Jethro Tull appears to lip-sync poorly, Taj Mahal and his band were forced to perform before the circus setup was finished and the audience had settled in, while John Lennon's collaboration with the impromptu supergroup the Dirty Mac—featuring Richards, Eric Clapton, and drummer Mitch Mitchell—was marred by Yoko Ono's shrill vocalizations, even though their rendition of the Beatles' "Yer Blues" is quite impressive. Nevertheless, The Who shine brightly, Marianne Faithfull is enchanting, the circus performances are delightful, and the audience’s enthusiasm is evident.
The DVD also includes engaging bonus content, such as three additional songs by Mahal, elegant classical piano pieces by Julius Katchen, and a "quad split-screen" version of "Yer Blues." Among the highlights are a recent interview with Pete Townshend from The Who and various commentary tracks added to the DVD, particularly those featuring Ian Anderson from Tull, director Michael Lindsay-Hogg, as well as the Stones' Jagger, Richards, and Bill Wyman—who humorously attributes Jagger's hesitance to release the show to his own dissatisfaction with his performance rather than the group's as a whole.

XP, Vista...) will have to be researched by the buyer. Games that came out PRIOR to XP or higher will not specifically state they will work on that release, but only because they came out before those versions were made. Many, if not most, will work on XP or higher with a few quick adjustments. We provide instructions with all items purchased on how to do this adjustment using the Program Compatibility Wizard. If we find out that an item will definately not work on a specific version, we will state it. For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program if the Program Compatibility Wizard does not work.
64-Bit Windows OS Systems:
For 64-bit Operating Systems, older games most likely will NOT work due to 64-bit systems not being able to run 16-bit programming code (most games prior to 2000). For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program.
Macintosh Systems:
For Macintosh programs, most older games will need to be run in Classic Environment if you have a MAC OS X 10.0 - 10.4 version. Please research Google on how to do this, or send us a message for information prior to purchasing. If your MAC OS system doesn't support Classic Environment (ie. MAC OS X 10.5 or Higher OR Intel Macs), you will have to try running it using the free program called SheepShaver, but compatibility is not ensured. Please research prior to purchasing or ask questions.
