ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA COLLECTION 3-DISC SET
Three action-packed Jet Li movies in one! Includes Once Upon a Time in China, Once Upon a Time in China 2, and Once Upon a Time in China 3. Starring martial arts superstar Jet Li (Cradle 2 Grave, Lethal Weapon 4). Directed by acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Tsui Hark (Black Mask 2, Double Team, Knock Off).
Once Upon a Time in China
The inaugural film of a well-loved franchise (totaling six) featuring the charming and incredibly skilled Jet Li. Li portrays the iconic folklore figure Wong Fei Hong, a healer and kung fu master from southern China in the late 19th century. The narrative unfolds as Western powers (American, British, and French) begin to intrude upon the city of Canton. Wong is called upon by the Black Flag army to protect the town by assembling his own team of kung fu warriors.
His companions include the butcher known as "Porky" (Kent Cheng), a Chinese-American referred to as Bucktooth So (Jacky Cheung), and his westernized friend "Auntie" Yee (Rosamund Kwan), a childhood acquaintance with whom he shares a unique bond. However, the Western powers are not the sole concern in Canton. The Sha Ho gang threatens local merchants and has started collaboration with Americans to traffic Chinese individuals for forced labor and prostitution.
A desperate kung fu master named Iron Vest Yim (Yan Yee Kwan) believes he must conquer Wong to establish his own school. Additionally, Leung Fu (Yuen Biao), a member of a traveling opera troupe, consistently complicates matters. This magnificent martial arts film highlights Li's extraordinary combat and acrobatic abilities while solidifying Tsui Hark's status as a premier action film director. The climactic battle scene featuring Wong and Yim showcases an exhilarating blend of kicks and punches while precariously balanced on ladders.
Once Upon a Time in China 2
In the sequel to the immensely popular Once Upon a Time in China film series, renowned actor and martial arts expert Jet Li, along with the unconventional director Tsui Hark, re-explores the historical landscape of China and the legendary figure Wong Fei Hung. The film features Li portraying Wong Fei Hung, Rosamund Kwan as his Western-influenced Auntie 13, and their bumbling companion Foon (played by Max Mok). The story unfolds during a tumultuous political era in China, as Dr. Sun Yat Sen begins to rally support for his Nationalist movement. A Qing minister, portrayed with great fervor by the skilled martial artist Donnie Yen, diligently fulfills his duties as a police enforcer.
Meanwhile, a radical group known as the White Lotus Sect takes it upon themselves to intimidate the populace and vandalize anything deemed foreign. Wong and his companions soon find themselves at odds with both the minister and the Sect, who share more similarities than they first appear to. The situation escalates into thrilling action sequences, featuring an explosive table-stacking and aerial fight with the Sect, where Wong surprisingly exhibits a more ferocious side, as well as a climax duel between Li and Yen. Tsui adeptly maneuvers through the intricate storyline while Li skillfully confronts his adversaries, resulting in a film that, though perhaps not as impactful as the original Once Upon a Time in China, offers satisfying kung fu entertainment for fans.
Once Upon a Time in China 3
Situated in a period when China was just starting to forge connections with Europe, Once Upon a Time in China 3 offers a blend of politics, intrigue, slapstick humor, and thrilling kung fu action. The charismatic Jet Li reprises his role as Wong Fei-hung, a mythical Chinese figure who is a physician, a non-violent advocate, and an exceptionally talented martial artist. Similar to many films from Hong Kong, this movie features a perplexingly intricate storyline: in essence, a kung fu tournament ignites a fierce competition among different martial arts factions, while also becoming a crucial element in a plot to commit murder. However, this summary overlooks Wong Fei-hung's developing romantic connection with his aunt (portrayed by Rosamund Kwan), the rehabilitation of one of the antagonist's lackeys, and the advent of a steam engine in a Chinese factory, among several other storylines!
Once Upon a Time in China 3 may not be the strongest entry in the franchise—the subtitles can be rather clumsy, the editing feels uneven, the narrative can be perplexing, and the melodrama is portrayed in a more simplistic manner compared to the other films—but there remains an unmistakable, raw strength in the storytelling that characterizes the work of director-producer Hark Tsui (Peking Opera Blues, Green Snake). Although it appears to have been produced hastily, Once Upon a Time in China 3 still offers enjoyment for enthusiasts of Hong Kong cinema, with its frequent and energetic fight sequences sure to attract action lovers.

IMAGES:
All images/pictures are stock photos and are for reference only, mainly to show the type of game you will be getting. Please read "WHAT YOU GET" for what is included with the media. Screenshots may vary based on your own computer system, video card, monitor, etc.
COMPATIBILITY:
Computers are like people, each one is different. Unlike console games, a computer game may install and work flawlessly on one system but may need adjustments on another. This is due to a variety of factors, mainly the OS platform running, video card you have, drivers, protection software installed, etc. Many times manufacturers release updates to games to fix bugs and add enhancements. We would be happy to help get the game going on your computer, but ultimately compatibility issues are the responsibility of the buyer. We suggest going to Google and searching for the name of the game along with the words "system requirements" to determine if your system is suitable. Ultimately, we are not responsible for software compatibility problems or publisher's errors.
PLATFORM:
Stated within the auction is what platform the game will work on (ie. Windows, Mac, Linux...) This is a generic statement and specific platform versions (ie. XP, Vista...) will have to be researched by the buyer. Games that came out PRIOR to XP or higher will not specifically state they will work on that release, but only because they came out before those versions were made. Many, if not most, will work on XP or higher with a few quick adjustments. We provide instructions with all items purchased on how to do this adjustment using the Program Compatibility Wizard. If we find out that an item will definately not work on a specific version, we will state it. For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program if the Program Compatibility Wizard does not work.
64-Bit Windows OS Systems:
For 64-bit Operating Systems, older games most likely will NOT work due to 64-bit systems not being able to run 16-bit programming code (most games prior to 2000). For DOS games, you may need to play it with a free DOSbox program.
Macintosh Systems:
For Macintosh programs, most older games will need to be run in Classic Environment if you have a MAC OS X 10.0 - 10.4 version. Please research Google on how to do this, or send us a message for information prior to purchasing. If your MAC OS system doesn't support Classic Environment (ie. MAC OS X 10.5 or Higher OR Intel Macs), you will have to try running it using the free program called SheepShaver, but compatibility is not ensured. Please research prior to purchasing or ask questions.
MEDIA FORMAT:
Please verify you have the required hardware in order to use the specified media (ie. CD, DVD, floppy drives, etc.) If the item comes as a floppy disc, make sure you have either the needed 3.5" floppy drive or the bigger and older 5.25" floppy drive.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A SMOOTH PURCHASE:
Ask questions PRIOR to purchasing an order to avoid any confusion.
Be patient if there are problems during installation or gameplay. Typically someone else has
already ran into that problem and has listed a solution online. Contact us and we will do our best to help.
Be sure to update your video card drivers and search for updates to the game from the manufacturer.
